New Potatoes Braised in Sour Cream

  • 24 oz. red creamer potatoes (b-sized new potatoes)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh dill
  • 1 onion, sauteed
  • 6 slices bacon (optional)


Parboil potatoes in salted boiling water for 12 minutes. Drain thoroughly. While potatoes are boiling book bacon and crumble into pieces. Saute onions in 1 Tbsp. of butter in separate pan. Return potatoes to the pot. Add broth, sour cream, and salt and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer. Stir occasionally until potatoes are very tender. Five minutes before potatoes are finished booking stir in garlic. Add bacon, onions and dill with potatoes. For thicker consistency let stand 15 minutes before serving.
